Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment

Symptoms

Depending on the illness the symptoms will vary. Some “Early Warning Signs” are as follows:

  • Indecisiveness
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Anxiety/restlessness
  • Apathy
  • Physical upsets
  • Extreme sadness/crying spells
  • Negative attitude

Diagnosis

Within the DSM IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders), each illness has a set list of symptoms, taking into account frequency, duration, and severity. When the required criteria have been met, medical professionals such as physicians, registered practical nurses and psychologists are then able to diagnose that person with a mental disorder.
