Borrowing
All material borrowed by the client will be recorded by staff.
Non-members may use the library materials on the premises, but may
not borrow materials.
Clients may borrow a maximum of five books, studies and reports
for three weeks, or a maximum of two audiovisual items for one
week. Reference materials may not be borrowed.
All material, with the exception of items on hold, may be
renewed once. Items may be renewed over the telephone prior to the
return date.
The client is responsible for all items borrowed under their
name.
Reservations or Material “Holds”
A client may reserve items that are currently on loan. These
items will be placed on a “Hold” list and the client will be
notified by phone or email when they are available. The material
will be placed in the “Reserved” bin, until the client who
reserved it picks it up. If possible, arrangements may be made to
pick up and return materials to a CMHA/Peel Branch site other than
the Resource Centre.
If the client does not pick up the material within five (5)
business days of receiving notification of its availability, or
call to give a reason why, the hold will be released and the
material will be free to be borrowed by others.
If you wish to reserve an item contact us at 905-451-2123 or
info@cmhapeel.ca.
Returns
A client may return items to the Resource Centre during normal
business hours. These hours are: Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to
5:00 p.m. There is no after-hours drop-off box. Occasionally
special arrangements can be made to drop the items off at another
CMHA/Peel program.
All items are expected to be returned in the same good
condition in which they were borrowed. Clients who damage material
may have their borrowing privileges revoked.
Overdue Materials
When an item is overdue, the borrower will be contacted by
phone or email and advised that their item is overdue. If the item
is not returned as requested, a second notice, in writing, will be
sent. The client’s borrowing privileges will be suspended. If the
item is still not returned, the client will receive a third
notice, a mailed letter, asking for the replacement value of the
material. The client’s borrowing privileges will be revoked until
such time as the item is either returned, or payment for the item
is received.
Library Visits
Everyone is welcome to use the library during normal business
hours. There is no appointment necessary.
Clients may view library videos and DVDs on the premises.
Photocopying library materials is permitted at current “per
page” charges.
The Resource Centre library materials are catalogued by subject
to aid in easy searches. The library uses ResourceMate software to
maintain its collection.
All clients have the option to voluntarily complete a review of
library materials and ResourceMate.
The entire facility is non-smoking and there is no eating
allowed in the library.
Supervised internet use is allowed for the purpose of obtaining
specific information regarding mental health issues/organizations.
There may be a fee for printing from the internet. Inappropriate
or unsupervised internet use is not permitted.
Noisy, disrespectful, violent and disruptive behaviour,
including inappropriate language, is prohibited. Anyone who is
seen as a threat or a nuisance will be asked to leave and may be
banned from the Resource Centre.
All policies and procedures must be followed. Failure to do so
may result in borrowing privileges being revoked and/or being
banned from the Resource Centre. The Resource Centre will uphold
and maintain respect and dignity for all clients, visitors and
staff.
