Housing and Support Peel (H.A.S.P.)
Central Intake Coordinator is 905-795-8742 ext. 233

Housing And Support Peel’s purpose is to provide supportive housing to people with a severe mental illness who are homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. It aims to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Clients have a life skills coach, in their own environment, who works with them and, where desirable, their family and friends, to achieve goals and satisfy their needs – housing, income and activities of daily living

  • Clients have someone to help them navigate the social and community services system and link with appropriate services

  • In terms of their mental illness, clients have someone who helps them understand and manage their illness and achieve recovery.

Following assessment and acceptance by the program, a client is assigned a H.A.S.P. worker to provide on-going supportive assistance to consumers (people with a mental illness) and/or their supports, i.e., professionals, family members and other caregivers. H.A.S.P. is operated by a number of agencies and managed by an inter-agency committee. The agencies involved are:

Canadian Mental Health Association/Peel Branch
Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (C.A.M.H.)
India Rainbow
Peace Ranch
Peel Addiction Assessment and Referral Centre (P.A.A.R.C.)
Supportive Housing in Peel (S.H.I.P.)
Trillium Health Centre.

H.A.S.P team members have expertise in both mental health and addiction. The H.A.S.P. program is administered and accessed through Supportive Housing in Peel.
