Areas Served
The Canadian Mental Health Association/Peel Branch serves people who reside or work in Peel Region. Peel Region comprises the Town of Caledon to the north, the City of Brampton in the centre, and the City of Mississauga to the south.

Its area is approximately: 1,241 sq. km

Mississauga                    288 sq. km

Brampton                        267 sq. km

Caledon                          687 sq. km

According to the 2006 Canadian census, the population of the Region of Peel was 988,948. Mississauga had 612,925 residents; Brampton had 325,428 residents and Caledon had 50, 595.

Forecasters estimate that Peel Region's 2006 population is 1,294,000 divided accordingly:

Mississauga                    699,000

Brampton                        526,000

Caledon                           69,000

With an estimated one in five people experiencing a mental illness in their life time, that means that almost 232,000 Peel residents could have questions about or need referral to mental health services. That's why CMHA/Peel's Information & Referral service exists.

The Region of Peel also administers a subsidized housing program for Peel residents. There is a waiting list. Application is made through PATH (Peel Access To Housing.) The Ontario Works in Peel social assistance program is also administered through the Regional Municipality of Peel. Their no. is 905-453-1300. The emergency after hours no. is 905-451-6108.
