CMHA/Peel believes that work is important in recovery from mental illness, and offers a variety of programs and services that assist people in finding and keeping meaningful work.

Representatives from each of these programs have been working together to expand and enhance the range of employment services offered by CMHA/Peel. One of the key efforts has been the development of the Vocational Services section of the website that you have just entered. We hope that you find this information useful!

College level programs that are free for those with mental health and addictions issues. Four programs are offered:

Redirection through Education For You: The For You program is a dynamic, experiential psycho-educational group program for adults currently coping with the impact of mental or emotional health challenges.

Redirection through Education Work Entry: A supported education program that provides students with a mental health history, the opportunity to assess their readiness for full-time school or work. Vocational testing is offered to help students determine their interests and aptitudes, and a work placement experience allows students to test out possible careers as well as their readiness to return to work.

Assistant Cook Extended Training (ACET) - This unique program offers people with mental health and addiction histories, who see work as part of the recovery process, the choice and the opportunity to receive training and employment in the food service industry.

Construction Craft Worker Extended Training (CCWET) - This program is a new Augmented Education program at George Brown College launched in partnership with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).
