Kim Bell
- Current Program Lead and Mental Health Worker at East
Wellington Family Health Team where she counsels people with a
history of mental illness and assists clinic patients with,
among other things, return-to-work planning when illnesses such
as anxiety and depressive disorders have interfered with
work-life.
- Former Manager of Resource Centre and Early Intervention in
Psychosis Program for Canadian Mental Health Association/Peel
Branch
- Management experience allowed Kim to experience the
accommodation process first hand, enabling her to balance
advocacy for employees with the realities faced by managers,
allowing Kim to focus on workplace solutions that are win-win
for both employers and employees
- Provided front-line and educational services for CMHA/Peel
since 1989
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from McMaster University in
Hamilton
- Has now offered educational training and presentations,
regarding mental health issues, to over 18,000 adult learners
- Certified Trainer in Mental Health Works, Applied Suicide
Intervention Skills, and Non-violent Crisis Intervention.
Colleen Taffe

- Bachelors Degree in History and African Studies
- Currently working towards her Masters in Theology
- Began training and educating adults in 2002
- Has been facilitating workshops for persons with
disabilities, intellectual challenges, and mental illness since
2003
- Multi-cultural sensitivity and experience working with
diverse groups, such as persons with mental health issues,
addictions, disabilities, women, youth at risk and
immigrants/newcomers
- Certified Trainer in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills
Training (ASIST), Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) and
Concurrent Disorders
- A very engaging speaker, who is professional, dynamic and
passionate about the training she delivers
Tammy Whelen
- Mental Health Promotions Educator at CMHA/Peel since 2011

- Currently working towards degree in Adult Education
- After her cancer diagnosis in 1999 at age 25 Tammy started
public speaking with the Terry Fox Foundation in 2001, speaking
at schools across the GTA educating students about life with
cancer
- Tammy also organizes events, such as the annual Road 2
Recovery gala to support research at the Edmond Odette Cancer
Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre where she was
successfully treated
