Symptoms

Depending on the illness the symptoms will vary. Some “Early Warning Signs” are as follows:

  • Indecisiveness
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Anxiety/restlessness
  • Apathy
  • Physical upsets
  • Extreme sadness/crying spells
  • Negative attitude

Diagnosis

Within the DSM IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders), each illness has a set list of symptoms, taking into account frequency, duration, and severity. When the required criteria have been met, the physician is then able to diagnose that person with a mental disorder.
