Highlights
Recent successes include:

  • March, 2010 – 16 educational sessions given to members from 62 agencies of Concurrent Disorders Resource Network;18 scholarships totalling $7,100 awarded through Davidson Scholarships;1,679 consultations provided to 304 Mental Health & Justice Services clients’
    Youth Net initiated “Guys Talk” group for 18 youth

  • March 2009 – COAST Peel launches in Brampton, Ontario, complementing pre-existing service in Mississauga, Ontario
     

  • November 2008 – CMHA/Peel Central Intake opens for clients seeking service with Access to Recovery Case Management and CMHA/Peel ACT
     

  • April 2008 COAST Peel (Crisis Outreach And Support Team) is launched. A partnership with CMHA Peel, St. Elizabeth Health Care and Peel Regional Police, the COAST Peel team comprises a non-uniformed police officer and mental health professional who can respond to crisis calls in Mississauga, where appropriate.
     

  • Staffing at CMHA Peel continues to increase to almost 90
     

  • CMHA Peel ACT team (Assertive Community Treatment) is serving seriously mentally ill clients in eastern Brampton and Malton
     

  • 10 Davidson scholarships were given to consumers in 2007
     

  • Concurrent Disorders Resource Specialist has started training staff from several agencies in Peel
     

  • ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) continues to be offered approximately six times per year – 103 trained in 2006 - 2007
     

  • McEvenue Home Works assists clients with one-time emergency financial assistance to allow them to access/keep housing
     

  • Mental Health & Justice Services program grows to be able to serve more clients – 103 in 2006 – 2007 -- with short term case management and discharge planning, in addition to offering consultation services to 883 people
     

  • Youth Net served 1,201 youth in 2006 – 2007 in focus groups and special sessions called “Pens & Paints”
     

  • Resource Centre staff served 3,023 from 2006 – 2007 and trained 90 in Mental Health Works
     

  • June 2007 – CMHA Peel celebrated 45 years of service
