The Canadian Mental
Health Association/Peel Branch is committed to providing support
through programs and services that are based on best practices and
Canadian or International standards. Our programs operate within
policy frameworks as established by the Ontario Ministry of Health
and Long-term Care (MOHLTC), and we are highly collaborative in
our approach to ensure our commitment stands the test of time.
We voluntarily subscribe to the standards and principles of:
- International Centre for Clubhouse Development
- InformCanada (Canadian affiliate of the Alliance of
Information and Referral Systems)
- Psychosocial Rehabilitation
- Recovery philosophy
- Early Intervention in Psychosis Policy Framework
- Ontario Association of Social Workers
- International Association of Psychosocial Rehabilitation
As a health organization, we fulfill our obligation to all
relevant legislation.
As a health organization with both charitable and non-profit
status, we are bound by both provincial and federal legislation.
For more details about the requirements resulting from this dual
status, please click here for
Charity & Non-Profit.
In addition to staff being affiliated with professional
associations and being bound by their respective code of ethics,
the Peel Branch also expects staff to abide by our own Code of
Ethics. There are clear expectations regarding interactions with
clients, other staff, and other providers. Also published is the
complaint process for clients should they feel we have not
fulfilled our commitment to them.
As a Branch, we take advantage of our national network of CMHA
offices, freely sharing information to enhance the programs that
we provide and as other branches wish, to enhance what they offer
in their communities. The same benefit derived from inter-branch
communication comes from local partnerships and regular
interaction across health and mental health providers.
Should you have any questions about best practices, standards,
or policy frameworks, please email
info@cmhapeel.ca and
your message will be directed to the appropriate staff.
