If
you’re homeless or at risk of being homeless, call
Street Helpline Peel at:
1-877-848-8481
CMHA/Peel Branch provides Outreach services through the Region
of Peel Outreach Program which operates as Street Helpline Peel.
It’s for people who are homeless, or at risk of being homeless.
Anyone needing their services, or seeing someone who does, can
call 1-877-848-8481.
This service aims to achieve the following outcomes:
- Clients (individuals who are homeless or at risk of being
homeless) get support, where they are, with issues they identify
are important to them
- Clients (requiring a “street” help service) have one number
to call and are directed to appropriate resources – other
supports, other programs – as required
- Clients become more stable and are better able to take care
of themselves
To help people who can't otherwise help themselves, the Region
of Peel provides public health nurses and staff from Ontario
Works, who work in collaboration with three agencies:
- Canadian Mental Health Association/Peel Branch (CMHA/Peel)
- Peel Addiction Assessment and Referral Centre (PAARC)
- St. Leonard’s House
Outreach team workers are trained and caring professionals who
help with health care, food, clothing, blankets, mental health and
addiction supports and "street counselling" (assessment and
referral). They also advocate for housing, emergency shelter,
medical care, employment and mental health and substance use
supports. They'll come to you, where ever you are. You’ll
recognize the Outreach staff in the community when you see the
Peel Cares van.
